Little Baby Movement Class
*Returning Spring 2025*
*Intended for babies not yet crawling on hands & knees, generally from about 3 weeks - 6 months & their grown-up(s)*
This is an educational playgroup that meets outdoors, weekly for 6 week sessions. Additional classes may be added (weather dependent).
The next session will begin on Wednesday, May 7th & will meet every Wednesday through June 11th. An additional make-up/extra Class will be scheduled for Wednesday, June 18th. Classes beyond that are occasionally added if there’s continued interest & the weather cooperates.
Classes are at BRANDYWINE SPRINGS PARK (Faulkland Rd/Rt. 41) at 10:30am.
Feeling frustrated with Tummy Time? Not sure how to best support your little one as they learn to roll, sit & crawl? Looking for ways to calm your baby’s nervous system? Overwhelmed by all the “noise” & misinformation out there about baby development (I see you over there on Tik-Tok)? You’re not alone.
This intimate 60-90 minute class will explore all the ways to nurture your baby's early development & motor skills and give you the chance to get all of your questions answered by an expert in baby development. You will ditch the anxiety and take back the joy in watching your new baby play & learn. A developmental topic will be discussed each week. There will be an opportunity for questions, discussion & one-on-one troubleshooting. Come connect with other parents in the same season of life or simply relax, sit & listen if that’s more your vibe. Spots are limited but a second caregiver is ALWAYS welcome. Please bring your own blanket. You are welcome to bring a couple of your baby's favorite toys but this is not necessary. Strollers and/or baby carriers are encouraged in case an impromptu walk around the park occurs after class. Crying is expected (from the babies & the parents) so don’t let that worry stop you from hitting that registration button. This is THE place to practice getting out of the house & feeding your baby on the go. This is as much about supporting your baby as it is about supporting YOU!
Nothing Milestones or Motherhood is off limits.
Topics Include:
Week 1: Tummy Time & Playing with my Newborn (discuss why Tummy Time exists, developmental benefits, how tummy time progresses & all of my favorite tips)
Week 2: Babywearing Troubleshooting & Tips (discuss developmental benefits of babywearing, try on carriers & troubleshoot comfort/ergonomic/safety issues since carrier companies are notorious for posting unsafe babywearing photos/videos)
Week 3: Baby Massage (discuss the benefits of baby massage for both parent & baby and practice baby massage strokes)
Week 4: Baby Gear/Toy Recommendations for the Early Stages (discussion from the perspective of a mom & Pediatric PT about developmentally appropriate use of toys, bouncers, swings, loungers, baby seats, creating "yes spaces" etc. Not all gear is created equal & the truth is you probably need a lot less of it than you think you do.)
Week 5: Purposeful Play for Rolling & Sitting (a breakdown of all the “inch-stones” leading up to these major movement milestones, play set-ups & ideas to encourage your little one to get moving)
Week 6: Movement Milestone Myths (in a parenting age where social media is rampant with misinformation, this evidence informed discussion will bust all of the most frequent untruths currently being heard around the world)
Week 7: Make-up or extra class
Expert special guest speakers may also be present for some Classes. In the past, we have had Nicole Dougherty (@trainermommy, Postpartum Fitness & Nutrition Coach), Dr. Corrine Seeley (@sleepbydrseeley, Infant & Toddler Sleep Expert, Ph.D. Sleep Neuroscience), Dr. Janelle Antonio, PT, DPT (@lotusrehabilitation, Women's Health Physical Therapist) & Stephanie Trost, MS, CCC-SLP, IBCLC, (@mindfulmotherhoodlactation, Speech Language Pathologist & Infant Feeding Specialist, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).

Purchase a Full Session Pass (includes a free class) or ask me about a 4 Class Pass (save over $20!) to ensure you have a spot each week. Drop-ins will only be offered on an extremely limited basis as this outdoor session frequently sells out. Space is limited to 8 parent-baby dyads in order to keep the group more intimate & so Sarah can provide individual support as needed. Sibling attendance is welcome but up to parental discretion since we do mostly sit in a circle for the majority of the Class.

After a brief pause to allow Sarah to rest & bond with her third baby, Little Baby Playgroup is coming back to Natural Nest Play Cafe in January 2025 for a new 6 week session.

Siblings play at a discounted rate ($8) during group time & a Natural Nest Play Attendant will be present to assist the big kids so you can focus on baby.
Open Play Reservations are closed during group time so the space is reserved for this group of parents/babies/siblings only. This limits overstimulation for our tiniest “Nesters” & helps protect their growing immune systems.
This is a ~90 minute Playgroup with 45 minutes of guided play & instruction from Sarah - a Pediatric PT & Mama of three littles. Guided play/instruction is followed by an additional 45 minutes of conversation & connection with other parents. Purchase a Full Session (includes a free class) or a 4 Class Pass (save over $20!) to ensure you have a spot each week. Drop-ins will only be offered on a limited basis as this Playgroup frequently sells out. “We loved the Little Baby Movement Class! In those first few weeks postpartum, the social interaction with other moms was paramount. It gave me something to look forward to each week! I learned a lot about how to support my child’s development without feeling any sort of pressure. I highly recommend taking this class! Sarah and the class are wonderful.”
- Little Baby Movement Class Mama
“I had concerns for my daughter's development at 5 months old. (Our) pediatrician wasn't worried but that didn't take away my intuition. Sarah validated all my concerns and assisted me in getting my daughter the services she needed! My daughter is now 1.5 years old and Sarah remains a phone call/text away! I can never thank Sarah enough for all she has done for my family and all the education she provided me with in her classes!”
